The shock between two worlds and two cultures. How the Western meets the Eastern, in a
film inspired by the work of author Wenceslau de Moraes, who fled from Portugal
to Japan, in the late 19th century, to search for an “art of living” that could
accommodate both the material and the spiritual. One of the most complex and
extreme works in all of Portuguese cinema.
