Fragments “around something about the American Revolution” that mix documentary and fiction according to a scheme that will be resumed in British Sounds: the monologue of a reactionary Native American and the sequence shot of a wire-cage elevator ride in a skyscraper; conversations with Eldridge Cleaver and theoretical discussions between the filmmaker; a group of black men playing jazz music on the street and the rock band Jefferson Airplane showing off on a rooftop in Manhattan; the rehearsal of a long sequence shot of a secretary speaking the language of “executives” and a lesson/provocation in a school with Rip Torn wearing a military uniform and distributing toy guns.
