Born in Katowice in 1984, Jan P. Matuszyński is part of a promising new generation of Polish filmmakers. He graduated from the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia and specialized in Documentary filmmaking at Wajda School. His debut feature-length film, Deep Love (2013), was named Best Film of the Documentary Competition at Moscow International Film Festival. He followed this work with the disturbing The Last Family (2016), that premiered to an even greater critical acclaim, winning Best Film and Best Director prizes at the 10th Edition of LEFFEST, with Andrzej Seweryn also receiving the Best Actor award at Locarno International Film Festival for his performance. Matuszyński now returns with the historical drama Leave No Traces (2021), which was selected for the official competition of LEFFEST ’21.
