Based on Youth, the short-story by Joseph Conrad, the film stars Zico, a 20 year-old boy who dreams of being a sailor. This is the story of his first time at sea, from Le Havre to Luanda, on board a ship. Soon, tensions arise with the rest of the crew and his dream gives way to disappointment.

Julien Samani

Julien Samani, director, director of photography and sound engineer, was born in 1973 in France. After a career in advertising photography, he enrolls in l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 1995 where he studies Image. In 1998, he leaves for the Cooper Union School of Design in New York and discovers the practice of cinema. Back in France, after creating fashion illustrations for Press and designing a few posters for the Ministry of Culture, he shoots his first film La Peau trouée. The Young One is his first fiction feature film.
