Jirí Trnka (1912-1969), often dubbed the “Walt Disney of the East” was a Czech filmmaker, illustrator and puppet maker, whose work constituted a legacy of extraordinary grace and beauty, whose poetic style, inspired by popular tradition and in fairy tales, profoundly influenced subsequent generations.
