The film is about aftermaths and reckonings. Revisiting material for his earlier 4-part series (1985), Karlin returns to Nicaragua to examine the history of the Sandinista government, consider its achievements, and assess the prospects for democracy following its defeat in the general election of 1990.

Marc Karlin was born in 1943, in Aarau, Switzerland. He was a director and actor, known for For Memory (1986), Dream from the Bath (1988) and The Nightcleaners (1975). For contemporaries, he was one of the visionaries mapping independent British film culture, with its roots in the 70s and its expansion in the first decades of Channel 4 television. He died on January 19, 1999 in London, England.
