Director Todd Phillips introduces us Joker, an original story exploring Arthur Fleck’s universe. Magnificently interpreted by Joaquin Phoenix, Arthur is a man facing society’s cruelty, disregard, and the indifference of a system which allows him to go from vulnerable to depraved. During the day, he’s a clown, and at night he struggles to become a stand-up comic… but he discovers he himself is the joke. Always different from everyone around him, his uncontrollable and inappropriate laughter exposes him to ridicule and violence. Balanced between the edge of reality and madness, one bad decision entails a chain reaction of deadly events.

Todd Phillips
Todd Phillips is a director, producer and screenwriter from New York, USA, and studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He became known for directing Old School (2003), Due Date (2010) and the Hangover trilogy (2009-2013). He is the director, co-writer and co-producer in Joker (2019), the film which has conquered the biggest international film festivals around the world, earning a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and comprising Toronto Film Festival’s Gala Presentations, one of the most important sections in that festival.
