With no phone or wrist-watch and with no schedule whatsoever, carrying only what’s indispensable for survival, the traveler discovers the mountains, the villages, the sea, a talking turtle, the music, the goats, the haze, the Cape Verdeans and above all an essential part of himself.

Founder of Praça Filmes, José Miguel Ribeiro (1966) is one of the inescapable figures of Portuguese animation film. Also an illustrator and a teacher, Ribeiro's dedication to cinema is constant, having directed numerous films, including O Banquete da Rainha (1994), awarded at the Cinanima Festival, A Suspeita (1999), winner of the Cartoon d'Or, Passeio de Domingo (2009), or Estilhaços (2016), which received the Best Documentary Award at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival.
José Miguel Ribeiro was a guest at the LEFFEST 19 where he was honored with a special tribute and retrospective of his films. His new movie Nayola (2022) is part of the official selection of this year's festival.
