Cristi is a policeman who refuses to arrest a young man who had offered hashish to two of his school mates, although “offering” is punished by the law. Cristi believes that the law must change, and he does not want the life of an irresponsible young man to be a burden on his conscience. But his superior attributes a different meaning to this same concept of “conscience” and its ethical implications.

Corneliu Porumboiu (Vaslui, 1975) is a prominent name in the Romanian contemporary cinema landscape. After winning the Caméra d’Or with 12:08 East of Bucharest (2006), his following films confirmed his talent as a director and a storyteller. Marked by a certain realistic will and a strong political sense, Porumboiu’s cinema manages to explore Romania’s historical memory in a comical, nonsensical way.
