Costi, 33 years old, leads a peaceful life. At night he likes to read stories to his son, to help him fall asleep. Their favourite is Robin Hood. Costi sees himself as the hero – righter of wrong and defender of the oppressed. One evening, his neighbor pays him an unexpected visit and shares a secret: there is a treasure buried in his grandparents' garden. If Costi finds a metal detector to help locate it, he'll give him half of whatever they get. Costi gets on board and the two accomplices have one week to locate the loot. Despite every obstacle in their path, Costi refuses to be discouraged for he is a real hero in the eyes of his family – nothing and no one are going to stop him.
When the film was released, Porumboiu stated in an interview that he had been influenced by Éric Rohmer's Full Moon in Paris.

Corneliu Porumboiu (Vaslui, 1975) is a prominent name in the Romanian contemporary cinema landscape. After winning the Caméra d’Or with 12:08 East of Bucharest (2006), his following films confirmed his talent as a director and a storyteller. Marked by a certain realistic will and a strong political sense, Porumboiu’s cinema manages to explore Romania’s historical memory in a comical, nonsensical way.
