Piotr, a prestigious neurosurgeon, is going through an identity crisis after his marriage’s failure. To try to solve it, he accepts a job faraway in Siberia. You and Me is Shepitko’s only film in technicolor, and it is also considered her most experimental work.

Larisa Shepitko
Larisa Shepitko (1938-1979) was a Ukrainian-born Soviet filmmaker who directed the films Heat (1963), Wings (1966), The Beginning of an Unknown Era (1967), In the Thirteen Hour of the Night (1969), You and Me (1971) and The Ascent (1977), the last one having won four prizes at the Berlin Film Festival, including the Golden Bear. She studied cinema at the Moscow Film Academy and at the VGIK Institute of Cinematography, where she was a student of Alexander Dovzhenko, an important name of the early Soviet cinema who was Shepitko’s "mentor." Shepitko’s career was necessarily short, given her abrupt and premature death.
