Based on Jean Cocteau’s work, this is a story about what filmmaker Jacques Rivette has described as “a hopeless search: each one of them, due to the very forces that drive them, escapes the other. Reality vanishes as they track each other’s steps. A game of hide and seek.” One of Rivette’s experimental short-films from his youth, Aux Quatre Coins offers an outlook over the beginning of the filmmaker’s artistic career. Filmed on 16 mm, the film was found in 2009 and restored by the French Cinematheque and by the Cinematheque of Toulouse.
