Lai Yiu Fai and Ho Po Wing travel to Argentina in search of adventures. Soon after they arrive, the couple clashes and Ho walks away from his partner. Lai takes up a job at a tango bar in Buenos Aires while Ho is gone, only to eventually see him, bruised and beaten, re-enter his life. As Lai’s journey shifts into a new direction with the encounter of a Taiwanese boy, Ho continues to descend into a shattered and broken place distant from that from which he came from. Considered one of the most emblematic works of the New Queer Cinema movement, Happy Together is a turbulent romance which has earned Wong Kar Wai the Best Director Award at Cannes.
