Con artists Theresa and Robert have spent the last 26 years teaching their only daughter Old Dolio the art of tricking, scheming and stealing. In the course of a desperate heist, the couple persuades a stranger to join them in their next attack. However, Melanie’s arrival in the group turns its dynamic upside down, changing the stoic routine of Old Dolio in an unpredictable way. This new film by cult filmmaker Miranda July is an absurdist comedy punctuated by moments of delicate tenderness that explores the intricate layers and meanings of intimacy, negligence, control and independence.
