Close, winner of the prestigious Grand Prix award of the last2 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, is a deeply moving film about growing up, friendship and responsibility. The film tells the story of Léo and Rémi, two thirteen year olds who are very close friends. They spend the long summer holidays in innocent intimacy, but when the school year starts, their friendship is thrown into disarray as their relationship is noticed and commented on by their colleagues. In reaction to their sometimes insulting and intrusive comments, Léo attempts to distance himself from Rémi. When Rémi disappears, Léo grows closer to Rémi's mother, Sophie.

Lukas Dhont is a Belgium filmmaker and screenwriter, born in 1991. He earned a degree in Audio-Visual Arts from the KASK Conservatorium. His short films Corps Perdu (2012) and L’infini (2014) received numerous prizes and gave Dhont notoriety as a young filmmaker. Throughout his studies, he focused on fiction but also explored the possibilities of documentary. In 2016, Lukas Dhont participated in the Cannes Cinéfondation Residence with the script of his first film Girl. The film was released two years later, in 2018, and was awarded the Caméra d’or for best first feature at Cannes.
