Frank Morris (Clint Eastwood), a criminal with a history of prison breaks, is sent to serve a life sentence at Alcatraz, America’s most infamously brutal and inescapable maximum security prison. Morris quickly realizes the prison’s terrorizing environment, ruled by its cruel warden Arthur Dollison (Patrick McGoohan). Fed up with life at Alcatraz, Morris and two convict brothers (Fred ward, Jack Thibeau) meticulously plan the unthinkable: an escape from the island.

Donald Siegel was an American director and producer, born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1912. Throughout his career Siegel directed many action-packed films with tightly constructed narratives. He is best known for his many collaborations with the actor Clint Eastwood. Their most famous works together include classic films like Coogan’s Bluff (1968), Dirty Harry (1971) and Escape From Alcatraz (1979).
