In 1974, the Portuguese and their descendants fled Angola where nationalist groups gradually claimed their territory back. A tribal girl discovers love and death when her path crosses that of a Portuguese soldier. Then, a Portuguese squad is barracked inside a wall from which they will have to escape once the past comes out of the grave to claim its long-awaited justice.

Carlos Conceição

Carlos Conceição was born in Angola. His short films Boa Noite Cinderela and Coelho Mau premiered at Cannes, and his first feature Serpentário was warmly acclaimed at its premiere at the Berlinale Forum in 2019. The medium-length film Um Fio de Baba Escarlate won the Seville Film Festival, appeared in several Top 10s in 2021, and obtained the celebrated Méliès d'Argent, awarded for horror and fantastic cinema. In 2022, the feature Nação Valente premiered in international competition at the Locarno Film Festival. Carlos is currently finishing a film about body dysmorphia.
