Founder-member of the Indian environmental non-profit organization Kalpavriksh, Ashish Kothari is currently one of the world’s most
relevant environmental activists.
He was part of Greenpeace India’s board, coordinated India’s National Biodiversity Strategy & Action Plan, and belongs to the global organization ICCA Consortium, promoting ecological integrity and bio-cultural conservation. Currently, within Kalpavriksh, Kothari coordinates the Project “Alternatives”, developing platforms Acknolej and Radical Ecological Democracy, among others. He co-authored over 35 books, including Churning the Earth: Making of Global India (2012) and Pluriverse: A Post-Development Dictionary (2019).
