Khalik Allah - Director

Khalik Allah

Back
Born in 1985, Khalik Allah is a New-York based photographer and filmmaker. His work is well-known for depicting people on the street, in order to capture something about their life, both in photography and film. In 2010, he released his first feature documentary, Popa Wu: A 5% Story, and gained interest in still photography. His second documentary, Field Niggas (2015), combines several observations and interviews gathered at night on a street corner in Harlem, New York, sharing the worries of those rarely represented. In 2017, Allah published Souls Against the Concrete, a photography book captured in Harlem between 2012 and 2016. His most recent film, Black Mother (2018), reflects the same will to register those on street, this time taking him into Jamaica.
